Prisma IPL

What is the Prisma IPL laser and how does it work?

Prisma IPL is an advanced Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment designed to improve skin tone, clarity, and overall radiance by targeting pigmentation, redness, and sun damage. While often called a “laser,” IPL uses broad-spectrum light energy to safely and effectively treat multiple skin concerns with minimal downtime.

Prisma IPL delivers controlled pulses of light that penetrate the skin and are absorbed by pigment (melanin) and vascular lesions (hemoglobin). This light energy converts to heat, breaking down discoloration and visible vessels while stimulating collagen production. Over time, the body naturally clears the treated pigment, revealing brighter, more even skin.

IPL targets:

  • Sun damage and age spots

  • Hyperpigmentation and freckles

  • Redness and rosacea

  • Broken capillaries

  • Uneven skin tone and texture

  • Dull or lackluster skin

Who is a good candidate for Helix?

  • Individuals with light to medium skin tones

  • Patients with sun damage, redness, or pigmentation concerns

  • Those seeking skin rejuvenation without invasive procedures

  • IPL is not recommended for very dark skin tones or active tans due to increased risk of pigmentation changes.

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients achieve optimal results with 3–5 treatments, spaced 3–4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments may be recommended 1–2 times per year depending on skin goals and sun exposure.

How much downtime will I have?

Prisma IPL has little to no downtime. Patients can typically return to normal activities immediately after treatment.

What are common side effects?

  • Mild redness or warmth (similar to a sunburn)

  • Slight swelling

  • Darkening of pigmented spots before they flake off

  • These effects usually resolve within a few hours to a few days. Makeup can typically be worn the next day, and strict sun protection is essential during recovery.
