Botox/Dysport

Your facial message...is it happy? Rested? Or do you find people asking you “are you tired?” Or “what is wrong?” When nothing is wrong, and you actually got 8 hours of sleep the night before. The facial movements we use every day create creases or wrinkles that can affect our approachability whether we choose it or not.

Botox is an easy and safe procedure which, when placed by a Master Injector, can create a positive facial message. This does not mean “frozen.” Natural animation is not our enemy when treating a patient with Botox. Instead, the focus should be on analyzing the unique and specific muscular movement of a face to determine the minimal amount needed to soften lines and wrinkles. By achieving relaxation of a muscle, the skin can begin to restore some of the damage from repetitive movements. This allows the lines between the brows, smile lines around the eyes, and forehead lines to diminish. Botox also prevents the creation of creases and wrinkles.

Botox can be used for more than wrinkles: it can correct brow asymmetry, lessen fullness above the eyes, turn up the corners of the mouth, and create less of a gummy smile. This involves an in-depth facial analysis where anatomic structures are studied to determine your own dominant movements.

What is Botox?

Studied since 1987 and now used in over 500 medical procedures, Botox is one of the safest cosmetic procedures available. Botox is a purified protein which puts a muscle in “time out.” This allows the skin to relax, and wrinkles to soften.
Botox results are apparent within days and last 3-4 months.

Myth:

Botox freezes your face

The Truth:

Botox does not have to create a frozen look. With proper technique your face can still have natural movement while lessening the creasing of the skin.

Myth:

When you stop Botox, you get worse wrinkles

The Truth:

When you get Botox, your muscle is in a temporary timeout. That means for the 3-4 months Botox is active, the skin relaxes and begins to soften lines. When Botox wears off, the muscular activity will eventually go back to normal, however, you did not age your skin by creasing which breaks down collagen and elastin for that time that it was active.  This is why people use Botox for prevention as well as treatment of wrinkles
